“Give them pleasure. The same pleasure they have when they wake up from a nightmare.” - Alfred Hitchcock

The Hallmarks of TVAfterDark

We take pride in our diverse, inclusive, specifically branded content.
Spot these and you’ll recognize them as the hallmarks of TVAfterDark.
We differ, engage and are constantly creating.

Opinion-driven posts taking an in-depth approach to a very specific topic. Sometimes political, sometimes philosophical, but always engaging! Editorials can focus on issues, themes, theories, relationships, or any other detail in a show or film.

Weekly discussion between TV After Dark writers, fans and guest writers.

Sometimes a great show can take more than one episode to find its feet in the beginning. The 4 Episode Challenge is designed to help viewers look ahead and see more than just a today’s pilot, but rather, tomorrows potential, by encouraging them to give a show a few episodes (rather than only one) with which to win their attention. Of course it could also mean that a show might not hold our interest. We give you a full review on these first four episodes before giving over to our Final Verdict for the series watchlist, DVR, or pass entirely.

There comes a moment in pretty much every show each season where – in order to keep us coming back every week – they do something that takes the story to a new level. Here, we take a look back at those kind of moments, and discuss what happened, whether it achieved the desired effect, and whether it will keep us excited enough to keep going forward.

There’s always one. They could be the star of the show bringing their A game better than ever before; or a one episode character who breezes in and steals your breath away. The Scene Stealer post is a post that recognises the impact that these individual characters have on the success of an episode, in conveying the story they are trying to tell.

It doesn’t take much viewing to realize that we are ridiculously lucky to have a heap of awesome TV talent on display for us every week. The Life Ruiner post is there to highlight those characters that for us as viewers basically make our inner fan boy/girl explode with all the awesome: the ones that make us most want to say “That’s it! It doesn’t get better than that! Love them.”

Weekly articles dedicated to current entertainment news of the week, casting, interviews, ratings etc. – Get caught up with our current weekly roundup here.

TV After Dark is known for more than just our love of TV. Our unique brand of writing includes a recognizable amount of what we call “snark.” Basically, we aren’t afraid to joke about our favorite shows. As long as it’s in good fun, we embrace a sassy angle in our reviews, lists, and editorials. We aren’t afraid to tell it like it is!

It might be because they made us laugh, or brought us to tears, or challenged us to see the world in a new way. Either way, these posts involve various members of TVAD staff highlighting different groups of screenwriters each week who brilliantly managed to tell the story of their show, by capturing not only the heart and soul of the tale they are trying to tell, but also the hearts and minds of us as viewers.

There’s always a stand-out - the actor or actress whose performance you just can’t stop thinking about all week long. Maybe they broke your heart and reduced you to a sobbing mess, or maybe they had you laughing so hard you cried! Either way, an impactful performance deserves to be recognized. We highlight these performers by bestowing them the title of Performer of the Week. Any actor or actress from any show is eligible for this honor, and we explain exactly why they earned it in an article!

Every show has its highs and lows - this is where we highlight the highs. We break down the very best moments of a show’s entire season, talking about why they worked and what we loved about them.

Every TV fan knows that hiatus is the worst. We’re here to help. With roundup news, fan fun, shipping videos, and more, we give fans just enough of a TV fix to survive their favorite show’s hiatus.

Pretty self explanatory. Who better to get info on your favorite entertainment from than the people making it? Our contributors interview actors, directors, and showrunners so we get all the spoilery goodness firsthand.

It’s our own award show, where it’s a look back to the best the year has to offer. – Check out our list and schedule for this years Time Capsule worthy television.
